  5. Quentin Williams says:

    Hiya

I work in logistics and so far its quite fun as well as hard work. I would like to make a request regarding the mcdonalds food vouchers. If there are anybody out there who is sick of eating mcdonalds everyday, please join me in donating at least one or two small burgers a day to the porest of the poor. What i propose is that gather as much as you can in your various departments and contact Ivan or Claude in the logistics department o that we can collect it after every shift change. I am involved in our church with the soup kitchens as well as two childrens shelters.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any furhter sugestions, my number is 0797840352

You can make a difference in the lives of the poorest of the poor and at the same time allow the world cup to effect them as well.

    Thanks
    Quentin

    • Manfred says:

Good idea, Quentin. You may get all my vouchers, I will never eat at McDonalds till the end of my life. Tell me, how I can forward the vouchers to you. Maybe you can arrange a postbox in the registration office?

      Regards
      Manfred

  27. Jarred Abrahams says:

    Hi There

I am currently working at the Transport Department near the Stadium as a Fleet Manager. I have been there since the end of May. It has been an great experience. The one thing that I have maintained even before I applied to volunteer with FIFA was that I needed to make a positive contribution to my country Mzansi SA. hence my willingness to volunteer. I have met some interesting people from various countries in the world and this has certainly been a positive event for SA. You can mail me anytime.

    • Charmaine says:

Hi Jarred you have not given your email address, so that we can keep in touch and lets form new friendship.

And key master-enjoy!!!! Hi Alanna!!!!A certain gyuy in management there ( wont mention names but he drops the newspaper every morning) can just cheer up more and remember to say morning and thank you-as Barney the Dinosaur would say, even my daughter knows that!!!!!!!!!!Lol!!!!!!!!!

      • a_e_k says:

What do I hear that a certain mr moon was ‘fired’???What’s happening in transport????

    • simphiwe hlengisa says:

      all parking guys well done

  29. Frank says:

Hi, I am a shuttle manager, like Farouk. I am also based at the Westin Grand. For managers we don’t get given a lot of responsibility.

  30. Gavin Gordon says:

Can someone pls explain to me what happened today at the Volunteer function, no more goody bags and I did not get my certificate as well………………Poor organizing. The amount of certificates should have matched the stipend and goody bag. Then there was no reason for me to stand in a queue for an hour to write my name on a box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what an anti climax to such an esteem world function!!!!!!!!!!! Well done to each and everyone of the volunteers and managers I worked with at the transport depot, and to the few volunteers at the vol. centre that helped, job well done.(Barbara is one of them)

  31. Elron says:

The whole program was a success but as you would expect in the working envaroment ,I want to be honest with who ever reads this ,many of us started noticing some some racism issues some volunteers wanted to appeal better than the others and some thought that they are lifetime employees of FiFa and started doing Frauds and lifting each others race I dont want to comment about the last days in my working envaroment they were totaly terrible too much racism I even left with my head gettin a littel dissy cause I had to up there and see Sakhi for the incorrect number of days I have worked cause I never missed a day and some of the so called team leaders volunteers cheated some days absent and mark themselves present since they are some-times the ones who have to go diliver the registers to the admin volunteers how does that happen If want to do it in the have a close relation with your acting manager…….however it was fun working in the Accreditation and I salute Mr Shiraaz Moosa for carrin out Excellent work but the some of the staff doesn’t diserve to work with him .

    • a_e_k says:

Yes it’s like a certain boss in transport who one day just brought his god daughter to the depot-the next day she had accreditation. Rumous has it that she was 17 years old. I mean where is the fairness and justice in all the applicants who did not make the cut yet went through the official application procedures??? I ‘blame’ whoever ( a person somewhere in the stadium itself) gave the go ahead for the accreditation knowing she did not follow the procedure. It’s still who you know in the end. And she got numbers which we did not even have-like VIP areas.Nepotism stinks-just check out the transport depot and the bosses( some of them)-they got tickets, but did not share with the workers-not thinking that beyond the green uniform we actually have more titles and is also known in the global village than what they will ever have/be. Ke nako-I was there and I am glad that I could do my bit for my country. It really makes you proudly South African.

      • Asref Parker says:

        Hi All.

I had a great experience and will treasure it for always.

I want to agree will Elron and A E K. It was dissappointing. However I strongly believe was goes around comes around. maybe not at the World Cup but in some other aspect of life.

However there is nothing we can do about it as we might not host another World Cup in our lifetime.

Let us rather cherish those precious moments for ever.

Well done to all of those in Green!!!!

  32. Rouan says:

    Hi everyone

This was a great experience that nobody can take away from you. I’ve enjoyed working with all of you..Ke-nako I was there and did my bit for my country and province.Cape Town volunteers rocks.

  33. a_e_k says:

Hi Asref. I can proudly say : I answered the call for my country to assist. Viva the ladies and gents in green and yellow. A job well done. As Joseph Sepp Blatter said : South Africa, South Africans, you deserve a 9 out of 10. May my child one day, in her lifetime, reap the positive spin offs of this SWC 2010.

    Continue to Wave your flag!!!

  34. Sandra says:

    Hi Dears
Rather late than never. enjoyed the time even though a lot of small things were going on; like some of us who only came to sign in and out. I agree that what goes around comes around. Anyway life goes on. Miss you all already. Work started and everyone just want to know about my experiences with you guys.
Charmaine u were great! don’t be stingy with whatever you find and meet!!! LOL

  35. Gavin Gordon says:

I agree with you guys I did my bit for my country – WELL DONE TO ALL THE GUYS IN GREEN & YELLOW. Hope to see you guys in Brazil.

    • a_e_k says:

  36. anon says:

  37. anthea says:

I had a lovely time at the world cup and i still think of you guys. Sandra you never give me your contact details. Please contact me on 021-4603056

  38. a_e_k says:

just want to know about the stipend cards-whats up with the BANK ADMINISTRATIVE costs….almost r11 per transaction????Firstly the UNFAIR HIGH TAXES on the amount………..R375 in my case……..and then the R11 per transaction….okay okay free money yes ( because its volunteer services, when we applied monies were not mentioned)-but I think FIFA could have borne the cost of the bank admin fees………….unfair ne……..
